Using Jquery to Fade Backround Images In and Out

Written by Jeff Lentz  ·  May 28, 2012

On a recent project I wanted to add images that would appear when a user rolled over links in a menu. This is simple enough using css psuedo-classes, however I wanted my bullets to fade in and out to give the menu items a more elegant feel.

SEO and Web Design - Putting the Cart Before the Horse

Written by Lorene Song  ·  March 13, 2012

As Client Services Director of a web design and web marketing firm, part of my job is to answer the question that seems to be on the minds of every small to medium-sized business. "How can I increase revenue from my site with SEO?"

Going Mobile? Plan Ahead...

One of my all time favorite movies that seems to be in high rotation lately on VH1 is National Lampoon's Vacation. The epic voyage of the Griswold family to Wally World is right up there with Homer's Odyssey. The movie culminates with the Griswold's finally arriving at the Wally World Amusement Park only to be informed by a animatronic moose that the park is closed for two weeks for repairs. Even in an age that precedes the internet, Clark's lack of planning is painful to watch. Though I have seen the movie "at least a thousand times" according to my wife, it is still difficult to control the urge to yell at the television at such a ridiculous oversight, but then that is Hollywood.

Working the Backlinks

It's no secret, human beings are covetous creatures. Inspiration on what to wear, what to eat, where to go, what to see...sometimes, it's from fashion magazines, a conversation you overheard from another cubicle, book-club friends, an old fraternity brother... Happenstance or as some would call it, fate, is the invisible fuel that molds a person's desire to possess. Which social media group has capitalized on this basic drive inherent in all of us?

Preaching the Gospel of Google

In my years as a web designer,  I have seen buzzes and bubbles come and go. Some vanish like one-hit wonders from the 80's while others stubbornly refuse to go gentle into that dark night (Side note: We are offering a cash reward for anyone that hunts down and shoots the hack that first convinced a client they needed to keep all their content above an imaginary fold).

However, I cannot recall any buzz that has had quite the impact or lasting power as SEO.
